Creyos
Creyos Cognitive Assessment
Creyos (formerly Cambridge Brain Sciences) is a scientifically validated cognitive assessment tool that helps clinicians and individuals literally see their 'brain on paper'.
When exploring neurodivergence, understanding exactly how your specific brain works can be incredibly validating.
When people think of ADHD testing, they often imagine filling out long, exhausting questionnaires where they have to average out their entire life experience into a single number.
Creyos takes a different approach. Instead of just asking how you feel, it observes what you do in real-time through a series of engaging, computer-based tasks.
Why choose Creyos screening?
Quick and accessible:
The entire ADHD cognitive assessment takes less than 25 minutes. It requires no special equipment and can be taken at the clinic or remotely at home via a secure link.
Clear, actionable reports:
Upon completion, the system instantly generates a detailed, easy-to-understand report. It highlights whether your performance on specific ADHD markers falls within or outside the typical range compared to a representative sample of the general population.
-
Tracking over time:
Because the tasks are repeatable, Creyos can be used longitudinally to track your progress. This makes it easy to see if treatments, medication or coaching are effectively improving your attention and executive function over time.
Benefits of Creyos screening
Decades of Research
The Creyos tasks were developed in the laboratory of Dr. Adrian Owen, former Canada Excellence Research Chair in Cognitive Neuroscience and Imaging, over a 30+ year career.
Highly Validated
The platform is backed by over 300 peer-reviewed scientific studies and relies on a global normative database of over 85,000 participants.
ADHD Specificity
To build their condition-focused ADHD protocol, researchers reviewed over 100 scientific studies to identify the exact cognitive markers most strongly linked with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Why Creyos is different for ADHD
Traditional testing methods rely heavily on self-perception and memory (traits that can be inherently unreliable for an ADHD brain). Creyos provides a crucial layer of objective data. It measures 14 validated markers of ADHD by combining digitised, age-appropriate symptom questionnaires (like the ASRS for adults or VADRS for children) with objective cognitive tests.
-
No 'Pass or Fail': Creyos is an information-gathering tool, not an IQ test. It is designed in a gamified format that feels more like playing brain games than taking a monotonous paper-and-pencil test, which is much better suited for holding the attention of an ADHD brain.
-
A Complete Picture: By integrating objective performance data with subjective rating scales, clinicians can reduce the risk of overdiagnosis and better differentiate ADHD from other mental health conditions that share overlapping symptoms (like anxiety or trauma).
Creyos is a scientifically validated and objective measure of cognitive function, but it is not a standalone diagnostic tool. It provides vital insight and evidence, but should always be used in conjunction with standard clinical interviews and the judgment of a healthcare practitioner to reach an official diagnosis.
What does Creyos measure?
The assessment includes specific tasks that target core executive functions known to be impacted by ADHD:
Feature Match (Attention)
Measures your ability to focus on relevant details and differences. You are tasked with indicating whether two grids of abstract shapes are identical.
Double Trouble (Response Inhibition)
A variation of the classic Stroop task that tests your ability to concentrate on relevant information and make a correct response despite distracting interference.
Token Search (Working Memory)
Evaluates how you temporarily hold and manipulate information. You search for a hidden token in boxes without clicking the same empty box twice.
Spatial Planning (Executive Function)
A digital puzzle that measures your ability to plan ahead and sequence steps, requiring you to reposition numbered beads in ascending order in as few moves as possible.
Sustained Attention to Response Task (SART)
A continuous performance task exclusively available in the Creyos ADHD assessment to objectively measure sustained focus over time.
